1 Dead After Fire Breaks Out In Home Near Lombard
One person was killed in a fire in unincorporated Lombard Wednesday morning.
LOMBARD, IL — One person died in a fire that broke out in a house unincorporated Lombard Wednesday morning.
Firefighters arrived around 6:30 a.m., shortly after the fire started in a home in the 1300 block of South 3rd, according to the Daily Herald. The person was pronounced dead at the scene, per a news release from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office (DCSO).
"Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the deceased during this difficult time," DuPage County Sheriff James Mendrick said in a statement.

He added, "We are committed to uncovering the facts surrounding this tragic incident and will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses."
According to DCSO it does not appear to be suspicious activity linked to the fire. As of Wednesday afternoon, the decedent's identity had not been released, pending notification of their next of kin.
