3D-Printed 'Ghost Gun' Seized From Teen In Glendale Heights: Prosecutors
A teen is being held in DuPage County Jail after prosecutors say he was found with an an "illegal high-capacity ghost gun."
GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A high capacity 3D-printed ghost gun was found on a Glendale Heights teen who was fleeing police Sunday, according to DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.
The boy, 16, was charged with aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and misdemeanor obstructing a peace officer. He is currently being held at DuPage County Jail.
Glendale Heights had been called to the 500 block of Sidney Avenue for a report that people were spray painting graffiti. Police say the people fled the scene via nearby backyards and the teen was arrested.

Officers who searched where the teen had run reported finding a 3D-printed ghost gun equipped with a magazine loaded with 50 rounds of ammunition that prosecutors say the teen had thrown into a yard.

Two of other three people involved in the graffiti incident were also taken into custody, but later released. One of the people was charged with criminal defacement of property. The other person was charged with criminal defacement of property and obstructing a peace office.
“There is absolutely no reason whatsoever for a sixteen-year-old boy to be in possession of a loaded firearm, particularly a ghost gun with a fifty-round magazine,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
“What I find particularly troubling is the fact that this juvenile was on court supervision at the time he allegedly possessed this weapon."
The teen is scheduled to appear in court July 28.
