Battery Charges For Man Accused Of Pushing Employee Into Sunset Pool

Police say the man pushed a Glen Ellyn Park District manager into the pull during an incident in early July.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — A man has been charged with battery in connection with the "teen takeover" that took place at Sunset Pool in Glen Ellyn on July 5.

Alyah R. Collins, 23, of Hazel Crest, is accused of pushing the park district manager into the facility's pool during the incident, which saw hundreds of teens rushing into the Sunset Pool area. Police say the teens were using cannabis, drinking alcohol and setting off fireworks. After the incident, a teen was charged with disorderly conduct after they were accused of throwing a lit firework "in close proximity to pedestrians."

Collins was arrested Sept. 1.

Following the "teen takeover," Glen Ellyn Park District staff said they were working with the Glen Ellyn Police Department to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
