Chicken Salad Chick Aims To Open Drive-Thru Restaurant In Glen Ellyn

GLEN ELLYN, IL — Chicken Salad Chick is looking to open a drive-thru restaurant location in Glen Ellyn. The village's planning and zoning commission will hold a public hearing July 24 to review the special use permit request.

The fast-casual restaurant chain, which offers freshly made chicken salad items, sandwiches, soups and salads, hopes adapt the current drive-thru of the suite at 293 Roosevelt Rd. The site was formerly home to Tide Cleaners laundry service.

Village documents show that the site is currently zoned for commercial use and states that "the introduction of a restaurant represents a compatible continuation of the site's hospitality function." Per village documents, the drive-thru redesign plan won't involve "exterior structural modifications."

Chicken Salad Chick was founded in 2008 and currently has more than 300 locations throughout the United States. The first Chicken Salad Chick in Illinois opened in Batavia in 2022.

The menu centers around varieties of chicken salad, all of which are made fresh daily. Diners can choose from tradition chicken salad or opt for salads with barbecue, Fuji apples, lemon basil and other ingredients.

Pre-packaged take-and-eat items are also available.
