District 41 Breaks Ground On Full-Day Kindergarten Center
Work has begun on an expansion to Churchill School that will allow District 41 students to attend full-day kindergarten.
GLEN ELLYN, IL — Officials and students broke ground Monday to kick off the start of construction for Glen Ellyn School District 41's full-day kindergarten center.
The full-day kindergarten project was first approved after a $49 million bond referendum question failed on the 2022 general election ballot. The referendum question did not pass, which prompted district officials to recalibrate to find a "viable way to provide full-day kindergarten to every student," Board President Robert Bruno wrote in May 2023.
In June 2023, District 41 approved a full-day kindergarten initiative that includes an addition to Churchill School. The expansion will add 12 classrooms and will allow students throughout the district to participate in full-day kindergarten, though half-day kindergarten will remain an option.
