Fire Prevention Week: Oct. 4-10

The Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company will not be hosting their annual Open House during Fire Prevention Week.

Out of an abundance of caution, the Glen Ellyn Volunteer Fire Company will not be hosting their annual Open House during Fire Prevention Week this year. Through outreach using social media, the Fire Company will be sharing the fire safety message and engaging with the public in other unique ways.

Poster Contest – The Fire Company will continue their annual contest, in which children decorate posters with the Fire Prevention Week theme. Instead of turning posters into the schools, parents are asked to take pictures of the poster and email it to pio@glenellynfire.org. Prizes to the top few places in grades K- 2 and grades 3 - 5 will be delivered by a fire engine! For more information, visit here.

Neighborhood Parades – the Fire Company will be conducting neighborhood parades across both the north and south sides of Glen Ellyn. While they can’t drive down every street, they will get to many of them. Keep eyes and ears out for sirens starting at about 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 when they may be parading down your street!

Fire Safety Videos – Videos sharing home fire safety tips will be posted to the Fire Company's YouTube and Facebook accounts during Fire Prevention Week.
