Flood Response: Village of Glen Ellyn Holding Special Refuse Collection

The village will hold a special curbside refuse collection beginning April 20. Find out what items will be accepted.

The Village of Glen Ellyn's special refuse pickup will begin April 20 at 7 a.m. and may take several days to complete.

To ensure that you are not missed, items must be at the curb by 7 a.m. on Saturday, April 20. All materials must be in containers or bundled (maximum 50 lbs.), with the exception of bulk items, such as couches, chairs, lamps, appliances, etc.

Containers include trash bags and cans. Items such as old carpet must be broken into sections and bundled or containerized. (All bundles must be no longer than 4 feet in length.)

No loose construction material will be accepted during the special refuse collection. All construction material must be placed in containers or bundled and tied with rope. Maximum weight is 50 lbs.

For the safety of refuse workers, all nails must be removed or bent over. (All bundles must be no longer than 4 feet in length.) Construction material is limited to two cubic yards (about eight 33-gallonsized cans).

Items NOT accepted:

  • Concrete, bricks, broken glass and stone not in containers.
  • Fences not in containers.
  • Utility sinks or tubs.
  • Household hazardous waste.
  • Electronics.
  • Liquids.
  • Yard waste.
