Garlic Butterlört Shot 'The Ultimate Pizza Crust Dipper'

Noon Whistle Brewing describes Garlic Butterlört as the "ultimate pizza crust dipper."

LOMBARD, IL — There's nothing subtle about Noon Whistle Brewing's Garlic Butterlört shot. The Lombard brewery's newest Malört-infused shot softens...or maybe enhances... the "bitter kick" of Malört with the "rich buttery goodness" of, yes, garlic butter.

In a post on Facebook, Noon Whistle Brewing teases the Garlic Butterlört shot as having a "'better ingredients, questionable decisions' energy."

The (is 'complex' too generous a word here, or is it an understatement?) flavor profile is described as "Rich, buttery goodness meets roasted garlic and herbs, with that unmistakable bitter kick that says, 'maybe I do want another slice or just literally anything to get this taste out of my mouth.'"

"Smooth," "garlicky" and "bold," the Garlic Butterlört shot is exclusively available at Noon Whistle's brewery at 800 E. Roosevelt Rd, Lombard.

The creation comes on the heels of the brewery's Windy City Blast, which melds Malört and Mountain Dew Baja Blast in an unapologetic, perhaps seemless and less-than-seamless combo. Noon Whistle describes it as "a wild fusion of citrus-lime Baja Blast and the unmistakably bold character of Malört… and guess what? It actually works. Like, really works."

Noon Whistle Brewing earned nods and raised eyebrows in spring 2024 for its Cicada Malört Shot. This shot was invented to celebrate last year's historic cicada emergence and included the carcass of a cicada soaked in Malört.

The brainchild of the brewery's creative and marketing director, who uses the pseudonym Joey Giardinera, the Cicada Malört shot was touted as having a flavor with "exhausting detail" by Giardinera in an interview with Patch last May.

Though Noon Whistle Brewing told Patch they went to great lengths to ensure the cicadas were sanitized, that daring mashup landed Noon Whistle Brewing a fine from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.

With its optional garlic Parmesan rim, Garlic Butterlört, on the other hand, may be safe from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission's watchful eye.

In fact, Noon Whistle Brewing says this shot is the "ultimate pizza crust dipper."
