Life Sentence For Glendale Heights Man Convicted Of Murder
Richard Goodwin, 59, was found guilty in January of the 2021 murder of Marek Krywko in Hanover Park.

GLENDALE HEIGHTS, IL — A Glendale Heights man has been sentenced to life in prison in connection with the 2021 murder of Marek Krywko in Hanover Park.
Richard Goodwin, 59, was found guilty of first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm in January following a four-day jury trial. Goodwin will serve two natural life sentences concurrently, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office.
Police had been called to a home on Pebblebeach Drive for a report that someone had been shot. Shortly after, another call was made from the residence to report a second person had been shot.

When police got to the scene, they found a woman outdoors who had been shot in the thigh. Krywko, who had been shot in the thigh and struck in the femoral artery, was found unresponsive inside the home. After emergency responders tried to revive him, Krywko was pronounced dead.
Police say Goodwin and two women had gone to the Pebblebeach Drive home to buy cannabis from Krywko. Officers reported that Goodwin shot a woman at the home after she gave him water. He then shot Krywko, a news release said, before he and the two women he was with fled the scene.

Goodwin was arrested Aug. 25, 2021.
“While years behind bars cannot erase their pain or bring Marek Krywko back to those who loved him, perhaps knowing that the man responsible for his death will spend the rest of his life behind bars will provide Marek’s survivors some measure of closure,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.
Berlin added, “This senseless murder not only took a family member from those who loved him, but shook an entire community, as residents struggled to comprehend how something this horrific could have happened so close to home."
