Could A Malört Shot Get Any...Weirder? One IL Brewery Is Trying Their Best
Noon Whistle Brewing is at it again. The team behind cicada-infused Malört has a creative new shot that's "blasting" past expectations.
LOMBARD, IL —Malörtmay very well be one of Noon Whistle Brewing's muses. The Lombard-based brewery is following up their controversial cicada-infused Malört shot with a new creation that mixes the distinctly flavored wormwood liqueur with Mountain Dew Baja Blast.
Noon Whistle announced the daring pairing on April 18 on social media. They described the shot, aptly named "Windy City Blast" as "one of the best we've ever poured."

Last May, Noon Whistle Brewing heralded the cicada emergence with a gutsy cicada-infused Malört shot. This... wild... bit of creativity landed Noon Whistle Brewing a fine from the Illinois Liquor Control Commission.

"Against all odds—and probably all logic—we've created one of the best-tasting shots we’ve ever poured: Windy City Blast. It's a wild fusion of citrus-lime Baja Blast and the unmistakably bold character of Malört… and guess what? It actually works. Like, really works."

They euphemistically describe Malört as having a "sharp herbal edge" that "gets smoothed out by the tropical limey brightness of Baja Blast, creating a surprisingly balanced, oddly refreshing, dangerously sippable little beast of a shot. It's chaos and chemistry in a glass."
The Windy City Blast shot can only be...attempted?...enjoyed?....at Noon Whistle's Lombard Brewpub, the company writes, "because some things are too powerful for the outside world."
