Woman Faces Felony Weapons Charge In Glen Ellyn Shooting: Prosecutors
Police say Tyra Bunch of Hillside shot at three people in July after they confronted her in Glen Ellyn over Facebook posts she had made.

GLEN ELLYN, IL – A 26-year-old Hillside woman is being held on $150,000 bond after she was charged with felony weapons offenses in connection with a July shooting in Glen Ellyn, prosecutors announced on Wednesday.
Tyra Bunch has been charged with one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm stemming from the July 30 incident on Surrey Drive, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said. Bunch appeared in bond court on Tuesday, when a judge ordered her held on $150,000 bond, with 10 percent to apply.
Bunch faces the charges in connection with a shooting that police said took place at 6:21 p.m. on July 30 when police were called to the 100 block of Surrey Drive for a report of people lying on the ground. Officers arrived to find no one on the ground, but noticed several unoccupied vehicles a block away.

Two hours later, three people returned to the area and told officers someone shot at them. Police said that the three people had shown up to confront Bunch over Facebook posts that she had made, Berlin’s office said.
Once at the location, authorities said that one of the victims found Bunch outside a vehicle and began walking toward her. Police said that Bunch opened the front door of the vehicle and the victims returned to their vehicle.

Police and prosecutors allege that Bunch took a handgun from the vehicle and began shooting at the victims before she fled. No one was injured in the shooting, police said.
An investigation led authorities to Bunch, police said. Bunch was arrested on Monday morning after police responded to a domestic disturbance allegedly involving Bunch and another individual on Surrey Drive.
“Discharging a firearm, particularly in a residential area, as alleged against Ms. Bunch will not be tolerated in DuPage County and will be met with the full force and effect of the law,” Berlin said in a statement Wednesday. “Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of Ms. Bunch’s alleged actions.”
Bunch is scheduled to return to court on Sept. 6.
