GLENVIEW, IL — If you’re like many of your Glenview neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Glenview area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Glenview Park Foundation, 1930 Prairie St., Glenview — provides additional financial support to assist the Glenview Park District in its delivery of recreation programs, services, facilities and events for Glenview residents.
- Youth Service of Glenview/Northbrook, 3080 W. Lake Ave., Glenview — The agency’s mission is to foster the social and emotional growth of children and youth so that they can grow up happy, healthy and hopeful.
- Patten House of Glenview, 939 Harlem Ave., Glenview — full service management corporation, focused on the development and management of ecologically and financially sustainable affordable housing that strengthens communities.
- Arts of Life, North Shore studio, 1963 Johns Drive, Glenview — advances the creative arts community by providing artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities a collective space to expand their practice and strengthen their leadership.
- Glenview Women's Club, PO BOX 736 Glenview — is celebrating over 40 years as a community service organization (formerly known as The Glenview Women of Today), whose members raise money and donate time to support many local charities.
