Coronavirus Claims 10 Lives At Glenview Nursing Home
A total of 10 residents of Emerald Place in Glenview that have tested positive for coronavirus have died.
GLENVIEW — A representative of Glenview's Emerald Place assisted living facility announced Monday that the coronavirus has claimed the lives of 10 of 11 residents who have tested positive but revised the numbers Wednesday to say that only three residents out of seven that have tested positive have died. Three other patients that tested positive recovered and are residing at Emerald Place while the other positive patient currently is in a rehabilitation center, according to Laura Kislowski, vice president of sales and marketing for Emerald Place.
These numbers are slightly higher than the cases reported by the Illinois Department of Public Health over the weekend. On Sunday, the department released facility-specific coronavirus cases and deaths across the state. However, it only reported six coronavirus cases and two coronavirus-related deaths at Emerald Place.
"We are continuing to implement CDC, federal, state and our own best practices to combat COVID-19 and we commend our outstanding team members for the dedication to our residents," Kislowski said. "During this unprecedented time, we continue to carry out our mission to protect, engage and love those living with memory loss. Our team members are helping residents stay in touch with their families through video-chat, providing individual engagement activities and friendship to residents as they isolate in their apartments, delivering room-service meals and much more."
