Glenview Police Officer Owen Masterton, 42, Dies

Public wake is scheduled Friday from 2 to 8 p.m.

Glenview Police Officer Owen Masterton died unexpectedly Saturday after a medical event while on duty at age 42.

Officer Masterton joined the Glenview Police Department in 1995. He was serving as a patrol officer at the time of his passing. He previously worked in the Department as a firearms instructor, an evidence technician and in the Community Relations Unit.

“He was a fine officer,” Police Chief William Fitzpatrick said. “He served this community for more than 19 years and was well respected among his peers.”

A Gurnee resident, Officer Masterton is survived by his wife, a 10-year-old son, his mother and several siblings.

A public wake is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, at N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road, Glenview.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 1775 Grove Street, Glenview, followed by a private interment.
