Forged Checks, Counterfeit Money Orders

Two reports of forged or counterfeit checks in this week's Glenview police blotter.

The following reports were provided by the Glenview Police Department. 

Forgery

On March 12, an employee of a business on the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported two men tried to purchase a laptop computer with a personal check, according to police. Both men appeared nervous during the transaction and fled on foot prior to its completion, police say. The check was found to be a forgery, according to police.

Suspicious Incident

On March 14, a Glenview resident reported they received two money orders in the mail, both in the amount of $945.00., according to police. The return address on the envelope was to an address in Asheville, NC, and an investigation revealed the money orders were counterfeit, police say.

On March 15, someone reported their vehicle was burglarized while parked at a business on the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue, according to police. Entry was made by breaking a passenger side window and tobacco products were taken, police say. The incident occurred between March 13 and March 15, and estimated loss is $320.00, according to police.

On March 17, someone reported their car was burglarized while parked on the 2600 block of West Lake Avenue, according to police. Entry was made by breaking the front passenger side window, and a wallet with its contents worth about $405.00 were taken, police say.

Attempted Burglary

On March 16, someone reported an unknown person tried to gain access to a storage unit located on the 3600 block of West Lake Avenue, according to police. The offender attempted to gain entry by defeating a door lock, police say. The incident occurred between Jan. 1 and March 16, and the amount lost is unknown, according to police.
