Here’s Why Marguerite O'Connor Was Selected As a Glenview Local Hero

GLENVIEW, IL — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

This submission comes from Marcia Marshall, who nominated Marguerite O'Connor of Glenview. Marshall and O'Connor are the co-founders of Aware2Act, a social justice organization.

How do you know the local hero?

Marguerite and I founded a social justice organization: Aware2Act.

What does the local hero do?

Marguerite works hard in every facet of her life. Aside from being an outstanding team member with Aware2Act, she is a funeral celebrant, an ambassador for Chicago Jewish Funerals, a leader in organizations for women and seniors and is fully committed to making a difference in her community promoting social justice.

Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?

I believe I may have answered that question with my response above, but I will add that Marguerite is devoted to her family, to her friends and to causes that will further women's rights as well as the quality of life for our aging population. She is a woman of her word who has deep values that propel her to always do meaningful work in the community. I am so honored to know her.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?

Marguerite talks fast! I love it and I know that the speed with which she talks is the speed with which she lives her life; it reflects her commitment to action and getting the job done!
