Park Board Choses Gallery Park for 2015 4th of July Fireworks

The Glenview Park Board has determined the July 4, 2015 Twilight Fireworks Show should take place at Gallery Park.

The recommendation came from a committee comprised of 16 citizens and staff from the Glenview Park District and Village of Glenview, which was charged with studying possible alternative locations for the 2015 show. An alternate site was sought because the renovated turf at the Glenview Park Golf Club -- where the show has been held all but one year since 1965 -- will not be ready to accommodate the estimated 18,000 spectators.

The committee reviewed three sites of at least 50 acres that were owned by a public entity at two meetings before making its recommendation to the Park Board on September 25.

The Village Board of Trustees will be asked to concur with the Park Board decision at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 7, at Village Hall, 1225 Waukegan Road.
