Police Respond to Von Maur, Costco Retail Thefts

The following reports are from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an admission of guilt.

Von Maur Retail Theft

Margaret W. Poet, 77, of the 4900 block of Elm Street, Skokie, was arrested and charged with retail theft after a Dec. 5 incident at Von Maur, 1960 Tower Road. Loss prevention agents witnessed Poet place items valued at $90, inside her purse and exit the store without paying.

Poet was released on a $1,000 bond, and her court date is Jan. 6.

Costco Retail Theft

Haddassah N. Mendoza-Elias, 28, of the 200 block of Kenilworth Avenue, Oak Park, was arrested and charged with retail theft after a Dec. 7 incident at Costco, 2900 Patriot Blvd. Mendoza-Elias was released on bond, and her court date was Jan. 21.

DUI Accident

Adam J. Swanson, 31, of the 4100 block of Cove Lane, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after a Dec. 7 incident in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Swanson’s court date is Jan. 21.

Driving Under the Influence

Eugeniusz Bursakowski, 57, of the 300 block of Berkshire Lane, Des Plaines, was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and Improper lane use after a Dec. 4 traffic stop in the 900 block of Rolling Pass. He was released on $1,000 bond, and his court date is Dec. 29.
