Resident Scares Off Would-Be Burglar at 1:30 a.m.

The Lainie Circle resident heard scratching at the window, opened the curtain and saw someone at the window. The would-be burglar ran off.

The following is from the Glenview Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Forgery

A Chicago resident stated that on July 15 they and several others ate at a restaurant in the 2600 block of Navy Blvd. They paid their portion of the bill with their credit card and the others stated they would leave a cash tip when they paid. They signed their receipt and left the tip portion blank. Later they reviewed the transactions and discovered someone added an $80 tip without their permission.

Attempted Residential Burglary

A resident in the 4400 block of Lainie Circle heard scratching on the window at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 27, opened the curtain, and saw a male at the window. He ran and drove away south on Potter Road in a light-colored car. He caused minor damage to the window screen.

Criminal Trespass

A resident in the 2100 block Rugen Road, reported an intoxicated male knocked on the front door of their home at 1:30 a.m. Sept. 27 and asked for the complainant’s 16-year-old daughter. The resident told him to leave and not return. They saw the same male a second time along the side of their home at 2:50 a.m. and yelled at him to leave.

Battery

Officers responded to the 3200 block of Knollwood Ln. at 10 p.m. Sept. 27 for the report of a fight between two males. On arrival it was found that long time buddies got into a physical fight that included pushing into a garden and one of the buddies being hit in the head with a ladder. Complaints were not signed.

Retail Theft

An employee of a store in the 1000 block of Waukegan Rd. reported Sept. 28 that over the last few days the same person stole several bottles of alcohol worth over $200.

Identity Theft

A resident reported someone used their debit card at two different dollar general stores in Indiana without permission for purchases totaling $1,304.06.

Harassment by Telephone

A resident reported receiving several harassing phone calls. Each time they answered a male voice asks, “How are you doing? We know you are all alone.” They were not overly concerned and did not wish to pursue criminal complaints.

Theft

A resident of the 2200 block of Thistle Rd. reported someone stole a package worth $50 that was confirmed delivered to their home by the USPS on Sept. 25 at 3 p.m.

Harassment by Telephone

A resident reported receiving several voice mail messages from a woman. The woman stated, “You need to call my hotline back immediately or else you will be in even more trouble than you already are.” The resident did not return any of the phone calls.

Harassment by Telephone

Two different residents reported receiving several phone messages from a man who said he was calling from the Department of Legal Affairs, U.S. Treasury and requested a call back. They knew it was a scam and just wanted the police made aware of the calls.

Burglary (Residential)

A resident of the 0-100 block of Wilmette Ave. reported on Sept. 27 between 6 and 10:30 p.m. they discovered someone forced open the rear door to their home and left the front door open. Nothing in the home was missing.

Battery

An employee of a business in the 4600 block of West Lake Ave. reported a fight at 11:30 p.m. Sept. 29. The victim stated a person they know came in, threw them against the door, tackled them and hit them in the back of the head. The offender fled before police arrived.

Warrant Arrest

Timothy Robinson, 54, of the 8000 block of S. Kingston Ave. in Chicago, was arrested Sept. 29 in the 5600 block of Old Orchard Rd. Skokie on a Glenview warrant for Forgery stemming from an incident on July 26. He was held pending bond court.

Retail Theft

Daniel Chernesky, 37, of the 8100 block of N. Chester Ave. in Niles, was arrested Sept. 20 at his home and charged with Retail Theft after the investigation of a theft Sept. 27 at a business in the 3300 block of Glenview Rd. He was released on a $1,000 bond with an Oct. 20 court date.
