Residents Receive Threatening Online Messages: Glenview Police Blotter
One Glenview resident received a message from a hacked Facebook account, according to police.

ARRESTS
BURGLARY
Geneve Gaytan, 29, of the 1000 block of Boxwood Drive, Mount Prospect, is accused of two counts of burglary. Gaytan was arrested at 3:03 p.m. July 29 following an investigation into incidents that occurred on June 20 and July 9 at a business in the 1500 block of Waukegan Road. She was held for a bond hearing.

NO VALID DRIVER’S LICENSE
Carlos Romero-Funes, 21, of the 1500 block of Henry Place, Waukegan, is accused of not having a valid driver’s license and speeding. Romero-Funes was arrested at 12:21 a.m. July 30 following a traffic stop in the 1700 block of Waukegan Road. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Sept. 7.
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Kerry Voit, 72, of the 30 block of Logan Terrace, Golf, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol and resisting a peace officer, Voit was arrested at 11:44 p.m. July 30 following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Patriot Boulevard. He was released after posting bond and was assigned a court date of Aug. 31.

INCIDENTS
HARASSMENT BY TELEPHONE
- A Glenview resident called police at 5:02 p.m. July 26 to report they had received harassing text messages from an unknown person through WhatsApp. The person said they were coming after the resident and their unborn child.
- A Glenview resident called police at 9:36 p.m. July 31 to report they had been receiving numerous threatening phone calls and text messages from a former classmate.
THEFT
- A Glenview resident called police at 12:06 p.m. July 27 to report an unknown person had stolen an Amazon package from outside their home in the 1500 block of Sunset Ridge Road.
- A Glenview resident called police at 3:15 p.m. July 28 to report an unknown person had stolen a package from outside their home in the 2500 block of Independence Avenue, between 12 and 3 p.m.
- A Glenview resident called police at 5:08 p.m. July 29 to report an unknown person stole a blue backpack from Swenson Park, 901 Shermer Road, between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
SPEEDING
- A Chicago resident was cited at 11:15 p.m. July 27 for speeding 26 mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 2500 block of East Lake Avenue. They were released after posting bond with a court date of Aug. 16 scheduled.
- A Palatine resident was booked at 10:07 p.m. July 29 for speeding 26 mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 1200 block of Milwaukee Avenue. They were given a bond and a court date of Aug. 31 is scheduled.
- A Niles resident was booked at 10:09 p.m. July 29 for speeding 26 mph over the speed limit following a traffic stop in the 1900 block of East Lake Avenue. They were given a bond and a court date of Sept. 1 is scheduled.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A Glenview resident called the police at 7:19 a.m. July 28 to report a Facebook profile by the name of Jack Garnett had sent them threatening messages in response to a listing on Facebook Marketplace. The message said, “I have your address, and I will kill you.” Police called Garnett and found that his profile had been hacked.
IDENTITY THEFT
A Glenview resident called the police at 9:09 a.m. July 28 to report an unknown person had fraudulently purchased two animal products using their Chewy.com account. The products were shipped to a Len Mitchell of the 1500 block of Cou Fall Road, in Swisher, Iowa.
DRUG OVERDOSE
A Glenview resident was found unresponsive at 3:22 p.m. on July 29 in the 4400 block of Pynsky Road. The resident was taken to Glenbrook Hospital for treatment.
STREET RACING
A Waukegan resident was booked at 12:22 a.m. July 30 for street racing and having no insurance in the 2000 block of Waukegan Road. They were released after posting bond with a court date of Aug. 16 scheduled.
BURGLARY
- Officers were conducting a premise check at 8:27 p.m. July 30 at 1900 East Lake Ave when they saw the building had multiple broken windows. Further investigation revealed several unknown people had entered the building and discharged several of the building’s fire extinguishers inside the premises, causing damage to the property.
- A Glenview resident called police at 5:21 p.m. on Aug. 1 to report an unknown person had stolen two rings from their safe inside their home on the 2500 block of Indigo Lane within the past two months.
CRIMINAL TRESPASS
A Glenview resident called police at 9:23 p.m. July 31 to report they had seen an unknown black male on their garage roof. The unknown male said he had been drinking and was hiding. Police were unable to contact the unknown male.
