Tis the Season For Exercise Equipment at Sears Fitness Store

The three-month-old shop at Willow Festival lets customers try equipment before buying, and promises to match most other stores and websites for bargain hunters.

Sears Fitness store that just opened in Willow Festival is the company's flagship store for exercise equipment and the only one in the United States.

"This is a test store," says manager Jim Green. "It's the first of its kind in the country."

The shop has been in business since Christmas, and Green says their lease might be up in April unless Sears chooses to renew for another year.

Green says his job involves more than matching customers with the right equipment — it also includes teaching people how to diversify their exercise and make the most out of the several thousand dollar machines.

"This is a great season for buying work out equipment," Green said. "People need an alternative to biking and walking outside in this weather."

The fitness store is a small warehouse of equipment, featuring an assortment of treadmills, cycles and everything in between. It also features a Sears' Fit Studio lab to provide ongoing exercise ideas to customers, and Green says the shop matches most competitors.
