1 In Custody After Lake Co. Vehicle Heists, Crash
A man is accused of taking part in the vehicle heists, which occurred Friday in Lake County.
LAKE COUNTY, IL βA man is in custody for allegations he took part in a series of vehicle heists last week in Lake County before crashing one of the vehicles into a pole in Waukegan.
Alexion D. Agee, 18, of Gurnee, has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, three counts of aggravated fleeing, speeding, failure to reduce speed, three counts of improper traffic usage and three counts of disregarding a traffic control device in connection with the allege crime spree, Lake County Sheriff's Office deputy chief Christopher Covelli told Patch.
The incident was first reported at about 8 a.m. on Friday in the 1100 block of Bellows Way in Volo when deputies learned a 2022 Kia Stinger had been stolen from a driveway. Video surveillance showed a white sports utility vehicle pulled up to the driveway and two men got out, get into the Kia and backed out of the driveway, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were able to track the vehicle in real time and learned it was driving along with a Dodge Charger and a Honda Tuscon, which had been stolen from Lincolnshire and then used in an earlier attempted vehicular hijacking in Round Lake where the suspect brandished a gun, according to police.
Police located the vehicle in the area of Green Bay Road and 33rd Street in Beach Park and attempted to pull them over. All of the vehicles fled, leading police on a four-mile chase before the Kia hit a utility pole in the area of Williamsburg Drive and Berwick Boulevard in Waukegan.

The driver and the passenger fled from the Kia and the driver, an 18-year-old, was apprehended and taken into custody. The passenger got into the stolen Hyundai and fled with the driver of the Hyundai.
No one was injured in the incident. And no additional arrests have been made as of Tuesday, Covellis said.
