1 Injured, 5 In Custody Following Antioch Shooting

The shooting happened early Wednesday in the area of Hillside and Harden, near routes 173 and 59, according to police.

ANTIOCH, IL — One person has been injured, and five people are in custody, including one juvenile, following a Wednesday morning shooting in Antioch.

Authorities say the shooting happened following a "pre-arranged fistfight," stemming from an ongoing dispute between two large groups of people, who all met in the area of Hillside and Harden, near routes 173 and 59, at about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

During the fight, several people pulled out firearms and began firing at the opposing group, according to a news release from the Antioch Police Department.

When authorities arrived, they did not find anyone in the immediate area but did find a blood trail and several spent and unspent rounds of ammunition in the intersection, police said. They also learned a 23-year-old man arrived at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with a gunshot wound to his arm.

The man sustained an injury that is not considered life-threatening, according to the news release. No one else was injured.

As of Wednesday night, police had arrested four men and one juvenile in connection with the shooting. Police also searched a home in the 400 block of Route 173 and found several firearms, which were recovered by detectives Wednesday afternoon.

The Lake County State's Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to determine charges, police said Wednesday .
