Avon School Students Turn Principal Into Human Sundae

What was the occasion? Read on.

Avon Elementary School students were initially sad when they heard that their principal, Chris Wolk, wouldn't have to be turned into a human sundae.

The goal was for students to raise $2,500 for the American Heart Association through a Jump Rope for Heart event, but as of the last day of school before spring break, the students had brought in just $2,447. Reaching the $2,500 goal meant that Wold would be turned into a human sundae.

"So Mr. Wold does not have to be a human sundae," Tammy Steinkamp, physical education teacher, told the students assembled in the school gym.

After the students initially sounded sad, they started screaming with excitement upon seeing several teachers run from the stands toward the front of the gym, where they handed Steinkamp handfuls of cash.

"Thank you, teachersβ€”you're the best!" said Steinkamp.

Let the sundae-making begin! Students whose names were pulled out of a basket were invited to pour sundae ingredients on Wolk's head. Soon, he was covered with ice cream, caramel, strawberry syrup, whipped cream, chocolate syrup and sprinkles. Supt. Ellen Correll was on-hand to put the finishing touches on the sundae: maraschino cherries.
