'Bright Lights, Big City' the Theme for Grayslake Central's Homecoming Week
U.S. Army Major Gen. Chuck Whittington will serve as the grand marshal of the Homecoming Parade Sept. 27.

Spirit Days, a parade and a pep assembly are all on the agenda for this week's Homecoming festivities at Grayslake Central High School.
This year's Homecoming Week theme is "Bright Lights, Big City" at GCHS.
Students will participate in various theme days, including Pajama Day on Sept. 23 and Spirit Day on Sept. 27.
Here's a look at some of the events coming up this week:
- Students will paint windows on Center Street starting at 3 p.m. Sept. 23.
- Student and faculty teams will participate in a volleyball tournament at 5 p.m. Sept. 24 in the big gym.
- The Powder Puff Football games will be held Sept. 25. The freshmen vs. sophomores game will be held at 6:15 p.m., followed by the juniors vs. seniors game at 7:30 p.m.Â
- Golf Cart Decorating will take place at 3 p.m. Sept. 26. That same day, at 5 p.m., student and faculty teams will compete in a Laser Tag Tournament.
- The Homecoming Parade will be held at 4 p.m. Sept. 27. The parade will travel west on Center Street and then north on Lake Street. The grand marshal of this year's parade will be U.S. Army Major Gen. Chuck Whittington. The varsity football team will take on Crystal Lake Central at 7:15 p.m.
- The school will hold its Homecoming Dance Sept. 28.
