Dead Body Found in Crystal Lake; Police Investigating
Crystal Lake Police said the death did not endanger public safety in the park or adjacent Canterbury Elementary School.

Crystal Lake Police were called to Canterbury Park Monday afternoon after someone saw a body on the ground with a firearm nearby. Upon arrival just after 4:15 p.m. Monday, police confirmed that the subject was deceased.
Police are not releasing the identity of the deceased pending notification of family members. Once family members have been notified, the McHenry County Coroner will release the name of the deceased.
An 18-year-old has been missing in Crystal Lake since March 1. It is not known if the two cases are related.

“ The area was cordoned off as police continue to investigate this matter, along with Deputies of the McHenry County Coroner’s Office,” a written release from the Crystal Lake Police Department said. “At this time there are no indications of concern for public safety, and no students at the elementary school adjoining the park were injured in this incident.”
A phone call to Crystal Lake Police Department seeking more information has not yet been returned.
