However, while at the scene investigating this accident, the police department said Round Lake officers were being assisted by volunteer group Mobile Eye; a group assisting the department with traffic direction and control incidents such as the two-car crash. According to the release, a white 2014 Dodge Van drove into the scene while a member was directing traffic at 2:08 a.m., and crashed into a Mobile Eye volunteer’s unoccupied black 2017 Nissan sedan, causing a significant amount of damage.

Police said the scene had been marked by flashing lights and traffic cones due to the current investigation.

The Dodge Van was driven by a 32-year-old man from Fox Lake, who said he had fallen asleep, according to the release. The man received a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, police said.

Assistance at the scene was also requested by the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team, according to the release.
