INGLESIDE, IL — The Lake County Forest Preserves Ranger Police on Tuesday arrested an Ingleside woman who is charged with aggravated battery and attempted murder after an attack Monday on a woman at Grant Woods Forest Preserve. Marquette Owens, 60, was arrested and taken to the Lake County Jail, where her bond was set at $750,000, Forest Preserves Police Cmdr. Jim Siefken said.

The attack happened at Ingleside's Grant Woods on the trail north of Rollins Road and east of Wilson Road around 4:20 p.m., Monday, Siefken said. Owens is accused of stabbing a woman as she walked along the forest preserve trail with her child, who is under 10 years old, Siefken added.

A bystander reportedly came to the mother's aid after she was stabbed and called 911. Brandon Hodolitz told ABC Chicago said he was on Rollins Road when he noticed a young child and a woman who appeared to be "frantic." He said he got out of his truck and immediately called 911 while rushing to the woman, who appeared to have wounds on her left shoulder and both of her hands.

"I don't call myself a hero. It's just right place right time," he told ABC. "I instantly thought of my wife with my kid."
