Former Grayslake Gelatin Factory Property to be Auctioned

With its iconic smokestack, the former gelatin factory is a Grayslake landmark. The property is going on the auction block Aug. 9. Wonder who will bid?

After being vacant for more than 30 years, the site of the former Grayslake Gelatin Factory will be auctioned off at the McHenry County Fairgrounds in Woodstock at 10 a.m. Aug. 9, reported the Lake County News-Sun.

The 9.29 acre property, located on Railroad Avenue, west of the library, is being sold by the heirs of gelatin site's founder, Harry Epstein via Gordon Stade Auctions along with several other parcels of land in and around Hainesville, according to the story.
