Fox Lake Police Officer Hurt After Squad Car Rear-Ended
Police said according to witnesses, the driver likely hit the police car while going between 35 and 40 mph.

FOX LAKE, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Department is telling drivers to move over or slow down after authorities assisted at a crash scene Tuesday involving a car that hit a marked Fox Lake Police Department squad car with an officer inside. According to the sheriff's department, the officer initiated a traffic stop with his emergency lights on at Rollins Road near Maple Avenue in Fox Lake, when a 2004 Hyundai sedan hit the back of the squad car.
The sheriff's office said a 65-year-old woman from Ingleside was driving the Hyundai. According to witnesses, the woman didn't slow down, and likely hit the police car while going between 35 and 40 mph.
Both the driver and the police officer suffered non-life threatening injuries and were taken to area hospitals, the sheriff's office said, adding that citations are pending.
