Grayslake Area 2013 Summer Camp Guide

Enrollment is starting soon for many summer camps. Here are just a few of the many summer camps available in and around Grayslake.

With the choice and variety of summer camps available in the northern suburbs in 2013, boredom won't be an option for Grayslake children.

Organizations from the YMCA to local parks and recreation departments offer dozens of camp choices focused around science, reading, sports, music and more. Whether you're looking for an all-around experience or a more focused camp, this list features a few in Grayslake and nearby.

Grayslake Park District

The park district offers a number of camps for children of all ages. While we can't list them all, we provided a sampling below. You can see the full list on the Grayslake Park District website.

Camp Name: Busy Bee 3's Camp
Where: Rec Center Preschool Room B
Information: The camp will run from June 10 to July 5 and again from July 8 to Aug. 2, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Children will create crafts, play games and more.

Camp Name: Discovery Day Camp
Where: Meadowview School
Information: There will be four sessions: June 10 to July 5; June 11 to July 2; July 8 to Aug. 2; and July 9 to Aug. 1. Children ages 5 to 7 will create crafts, play sports, study nature and more.

Camp Name: Full-Day Day Camp
Where: Grayslake Middle School
Information: There will be several full-day day camp sessions offered, where children entering first through fifth grades will swim, create crafts, play sports and even have off-site field trips.

Prairie Crossing

Name: Prairie Crossing Learning Farm Camp
Where: Learning Farm, 32400 N. Harris Road, Grayslake.
Information: Several programs will be available for children ages 3-12 to participate in this summer, including Little Sprouts, Gifted Growers and Green Thumbs.

David Adler Music and Arts Center

Name: Camp Adler
Where: David Adler Music and Arts Center, 1700 North Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville
Information: Registration will be held April 1 for Camp Adler's half-day campers. Students will explore music, art and drama.

Good Times Summer Day Camp

Name: Good Times Summer Day Camp
Where: The camp is based out of the Libertyville Sports Complex, 1950 N. Highway 45, and offers shuttle bus service throughout Lake County, including to towns like Grayslake, Lake Zurich and Vernon Hills.
Information: The camp offers a variety of activities, including swimming, field trips, sports and more.

YMCA

Name: Camp Duncan
Where: 32405 N. Highway 12, Ingleside
Information: Children participate in a variety of activities, including swimming, archery, biking, boating, fishing and sports.
