Gurnee Man Crashes Car After Being Served Order Of Protection
The man escaped with firearms, after being served an order of protection.

GURNEE, IL — A Gurnee man was arrested Monday after taking off while police served him an order of protection at his home. According to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office a Lake County Sheriff's Office deputy served the order at 4:45 p.m. to Tyler R. Baumann, 37, of the 6200 block of Formoor Lane, during which Baumann claimed he didn't have any firearms or ammunition. Baumann also didn't have a valid FOID card and wasn't allowed to have any firearms in accordance with the order of protection, according to the sheriff's office.
While the sheriff's deputy was parked and completed paperwork regarding the order of protection, he saw Baumann — who doesn't have a valid driver's license — drive by in a vehicle. The sheriff's deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop on Baumann’s vehicle, but the man drove away at a high rate of speed. The sheriff's office said the deputy didn't chase Baumann due to too big of a risk to the community during rush hour traffic.
The sheriff's deputy saw Baumann and the vehicle a short time later crash into a tree and run from the vehicle in the area of Hunt Club Road and Dada Drive in Gurnee, the sheriff's office said.
