Gurnee Woman Attempted To Rob Gas Station: Police

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Police have arrested a woman who is accused of attempting to rob a gas station clerk on New Year’s Day.

Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to the gas station in the 36800 block of North Route 83 in unincorporated Lake Villa at about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday where they learned that a woman entered the gas station, implied that she had a firearm and demanded cash from the clerk, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

The clerk refused the woman’s demands and the woman then attempted to break into the cash register herself, police said. After not having any success, she fled in a black SUV with out of state license plates.

Deputies at the scene used Flock license plate reader technology to determine the vehicle likely used in the armed robbery was a Ford Expedition, and dispatchers issued a countywide broadcast to other law enforcement with the information.

Shortly after the broadcast, Gurnee police officers located the vehicle after a Flock camera in the located the offending vehicle’s license plate, according to the news release.

Deputies responded to the area of Grand Avenue and Hunt Club Road where Gurnee Police Officers had the offending vehicle pulled over. The driver, Chritina A. Lintner, 40, of the 5500 block of Grand Avenue in Gurnee, was identified as being responsible for committing the attempted robbery, police said.

She was arrested, taken to the Lake County Jail and has been charged with attempted aggravated armed robbery.
