Lake Co. Deputies Save Man Found Hanging In Garage: Police
Two Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies came to the rescue of the man who attempted to take his own life Wednesday night, police said.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Deputies in Lake County saved the life of a man who attempted to take his own life on Wednesday night.
The Lake County Sheriff's Office received a call from a woman at about 10:30 p.m., who reported her husband threatened to hang himself and went into the detached garage of their home in unincorporated Gurnee and locked the door, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.
The first deputy at the scene attempted to get into the garage through a side door, which was locked. She forced her way into the garage and found the man hanging, police said. She grabbed his feet and legs, lifting him up and relieving the pressure on his neck, according to the news release.

A second deputy arrived and was able to cut the man down.
Paramedics arrived and transported the man to a hospital where he was breathing and had a pulse, according to a news release.

“This is the type of heroic and life-saving work I have been accustomed to seeing nearly every day from our staff at the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. This is yet another example of our sheriff’s dispatchers and deputies working together to save the life of someone in their worst moment," Lake County Sheriff John Idleburg said. "We are all hopeful this man makes a full recovery.”
