LAKE COUNTY, IL β€” Quiet zones along the Canadian National/Metra commuter rail line from Wheeling to Antioch will be reinstated next week.

The quiet zone was temporarily suspended on Oct. 11 as the Federal Railroad Administration completed work at crossings in the 10 communities, which included 13 median upgrades, 27 updates to signs and five speed waivers, according to the Daily Herald. On Wednesday, the FRA let the communities know all crossings are now compliant and the quiet zone rules will go back into affect on Dec. 20.
