Lake County Sheriff Shares Labor Day Enforcement Campaign Results
The Lake County Sheriff's Office said 162 citations were issued during the campaign.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday the results of the recent Labor Day ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ traffic safety campaign. For the campaign, the sheriff’s office joined forces with law enforcement throughout Illinois, the sheriff's office said, adding that 162 citations were issued during the campaign.
More specifically, the sheriff’s office made three impaired driving arrests and issued 62 seat belt citations
“Keeping people safe on our roadways is a significant priority of our Patrol Division," Sheriff John Idleburg said, in a release. "We far too often see the tragic aftereffects caused when someone makes the reckless decision to drive drunk or high. The choice is simple, drive sober or get pulled over!”

The state's campaign program is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal funding managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the sheriff's office said.
