Lexus Collides With School Bus In Gurnee With Students On Board: Cops

The driver was ticketed for improper lane usage for allegations she caused the crash last week.

GURNEE, IL — A 34-year-old woman has been ticketed for allegations she caused a collision with a school bus last week.

The 34-year-old Forest Park woman received a ticket for improper lane usage, which police determined caused her to crash her Lexus sports utility vehicle with a school bus at the intersection of Vineyard Drive and Mendocino Drive in Gurnee at about 2:10 p.m. on Thursday, according to a news release from the Gurnee Police Department.

The woman told police she thought the one-lane roadway was two lanes. She was driving north in the southbound lane of Vineyard Drive when the school bus attempted to make a left turn and the Lexus collided into the front corner of the bus, according to the news release.

The Lexus flipped and rolled over, police said.

There were 22 students and a bus driver on the bus and no one was injured, according to the news release. The driver of the Lexus was checked by paramedics at the scene but did not require any further medical attention.
