Man, 60, Accused Of Soliciting Sex Act From 7-Year-Old Relative

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 60-year-old man faces a sex assault charge for allegations he solicited a 7-year-old relative and tried to get her to perform a sex act on him during a pool party over the Labor Day weekend near Mundelein.

Benedicto Aviles, of the 15300 block of West Apple Orchard Lane in unincorporated Lincolnshire, has been charged with indecent solicitation of a child and attempted predatory sexual assault of a child in connection with the Sept. 2 incident, according to a news release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Aviles is accused of offering to take the 7-year-old girl swimming and then, instead of taking her to the pool, he showed her child pornography videos, according to police. He then pulled down his pants and tried to get her to perform a sexual act that was show in the video.

The mother called for the girl when she did not see her in the pool, which prevented Aviles from moving forward with his plan, police said. The girl told her mom what happened, and the family immediately contacted authorities to report the incident.

Detectives took Aviles into custody on Tuesday.
