Man Exposes Himself To 12-Year-Old In Zion: Police

Zion police are searching for a car caught on video just before the crime is said to have taken place.

ZION, IL — The Zion Police Department is investigating a report of public indecency during which an unknown man exposed himself to a 12-year-old Tuesday afternoon who was walking home from Zion Central Middle School, near the intersection of 24th Street and Horeb Avenue. According to Zion police, the kid told a relative about the incident and they reported it to police.

According to police, the offender reportedly pulled up next to the victim at 3:30 p.m. in a blue, 2-door car with rust on it. He is described as a white man, between 40 and 50 years old, with red/blonde hair and a red/blonde beard.

Officers said they were able to locate video from a nearby home security system, capturing the suspected car just before the crime is said to have taken place.

Police said they're looking for additional recordings that may have captured a better image of the car, and are working closely with Zion District 6 to provide increased security around all district schools.

Zion District 6 is reviewing their security video to see if the suspected car is recorded near any of their schools, according to police.
