Man Gets 50 Years In Prison For Fatally Shooting Man, 77
Azmi Ibrahim was found guilty of first-degree murder earlier in the year and was sentenced this past week in Lake County Circuit Court.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 38-year-old man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for fatally shooting a 77-year-old Fox Lake man in December 2022.
A jury found Azmi Ibrahim guilty of first-degree murder in January in connection with the slaying of Roy Hoffman, according to a news release from the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.
Hoffman was fatally shot inside his home after arranging to have a "romantic relationship" with a 31-year-old Round Lake woman in exchange for money, police said. Ibrahim, of the 300 block of Lunar Drive in Round Lake, had been waiting in his vehicle while the woman, also of the 300 block of Lunar Drive, "met with Hoffman for a period of time."

During the sentencing hearing, prosecutor argued the shooting was not impulsive or spontaneous but a conscious decision Ibrahim made "from the moment he left his car with the firearm to the moment he shot Mr. Hoffman," according to the news release.
