ROUND LAKE PARK, IL — A Round Lake Park man police and paramedics revived during an apparent drug overdose Friday night in the 500 block of Arbor Drive is facing felony drug possession charges, according to the Round Lake Police Department. Police arrested James M. King, 47, of the 500 block of Arbor Drive, who is being held at the Lake County Jail on $40,000 bond after Friday's incident, according to a release from the police department.

King is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver and unlawful possession of a controlled substance — Methamphetamine — between more than 5 and less than 15 grams, according to the release.

Police responded at 11 p.m. Friday to a report of an unresponsive man at that address after an unknown female called 911 Friday, but left before officers arrived, according to police.

Police arrived and found an unresponsive 47-year-old man who wasn't breathing, according to the release. Responding officers administered Naloxone to the man who immediately began breathing, and arriving paramedics from the Round Lake Fire Protection District administered additional Naloxone until the man was fully conscious, the release said.

"The responsibility of first responders is to save lives," Round Lake Park Police Chief George Filenko said in the release. "It is also our duty to prevent illegal narcotics distribution in our community that may take lives."

Police said officers also found items related to drug use at the address, including paraphernalia and illegal narcotics in plain sight.

According to the release, the man refused to be taken to the hospital and was arrested by officers who took him to the police department for further investigation.

Police said the man complained of being ill after he was taken to the police department and was then taken by ambulance to Condell Hospital in Libertyville.

According to the release, additional charges against King are pending until test results return from the Northern Illinois Regional Crime Lab on another substance officials said requires controlled testing in a laboratory environment.

“The community experienced two recent overdose deaths related to fentanyl," Filenko said, in the release. "Fentanyl is a highly toxic drug that can be absorbed through the skin and can become airborne.”
