LAKE COUNTY, IL — A late-November snowstorm left some stranded and others without power as police kept busy responding to service calls over the weekend.

As of Monday afternoon, Christopher Covelli, deputy chief for the Lake County Sheriff's Office, said deputies responded to 65 calls for service since the start of the snowstorm on Saturday. A majority of the calls were in response to crashes, cars into the ditch, spinouts and motorist assist-type calls.

"These calls were not confined to one portion of the county, they were widespread, due to the widespread snow coverage," Covelli said. "Some of the crashes did require hospitalization of the occupants, but none that we responded to were life-threatening, in nature."
