Sept. 12: CLC’s Fall Harvest Dinner serves up fresh flavors

Enjoy delicious, locally grown food right on campus at the first Fall Harvest Dinner hosted in a partnership between College of Lake County’s (CLC) horticulture and hospitality and culinary management programs. The dinner is 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12, in the new outdoor gathering space located at the Grayslake Campus farm.

“This event is a model of how we can bring together growers, chefs and customers,” said Business and Social Sciences Dean Dr. Jeff Stomper. “More than that, we are modeling a more ethical, resilient and sustainable food system.”

Attendees are advised to dress for the weather. Horticulture student workers will be available for tours of the farm which is providing heirloom tomatoes, salad greens, fresh herbs, peppers, squash and other mixed veggies. All funds raised will go toward the horticulture and hospitality and culinary management programs.

Tickets are $55 for the buffet and $75 with an added wine pairing provided by Glunz Family Winery. Hors d’ oeuvres are served at 5:30 p.m., and the buffet begins 6 p.m. A cash bar is also available.
