Shot Fired During Fight Involving 3 People Near Gurnee: Sheriff

Two people left the scene after the incident, according to a release from the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

GURNEE, IL — Deputies with the Lake County Sheriff's Office were called to the 17700 block of West Horseshoe Lane, in unincorporated Gurnee at 5 p.m. Thursday for a report of shots fired. According to a release from the sheriff's office, deputies got to that address and found a 17-year-old male victim, who lived at the home, and had non-life-threatening injuries from a fight with two unknown people. No one was shot during the fight, the sheriff's office reported.

According to the investigation, the victim was talking to two males, both possibly of Hispanic descent and in their late teens or early twenties, who showed up to the address in a silver Honda Accord, the release said.

A fight broke out between the three, during which someone took out a gun, the release said. The gun went off, but no one was hit, the sheriff's office added. The two men who showed up in the Honda quickly left the scene, according to the release.

So far in the investigation, sheriff's detectives don't believe the incident was random, officials said.
