Why are you running?
After joining the American Legion and getting involved there I saw things in the local community that made sense to me, and other things that didn't. So after living in the Round Lake Community for over 17 years I decided I would, as they say, throw my hat into the local political arena to try improve those things that don't make sense to me.
In what ways would Avon Township benefit from your service?
I've been a manager of people and services since I've been 19 years old; from a four manned Radio Shack on a U.S. Navy Supply Ship to a Military Training School with over 700 students. And for the past 12 years I've Project Managed the implementation of Fiber optic services and networks for Major Corporations and Health Care Facilities. WhileΒ my military back ground can assist those Veterans in the area that need assistance. That is howΒ I believe the Township would benefit from my experience.Β
What is the biggest challenge the township faces and what should be done to address it?
Getting the word out, as to all the services the Township provides. In the past few weeks that I've been walking the neighborhoods of Avon Township, I'm amazed on how many people I've spoken to are unaware of what services the Township provides. Especially the elderly.
What do you think the township does well?
They have the food bank, community gardens, bus service for the elder or disabled; which is great! But as I mentioned above does no good if no one is aware of it.Β
What should be some of the township's priorities over the next several years?
Keep the tax base for the Township at its current levels and if possible lower it. Start partnering with the local Village leaders that the Township supports to get the word out on existing programs and possibly propose new ones. Β Along with submitting for grants to fund existing and new programs, so property taxes do not need to be used.
What else would you like voters to know?
I'm a new face with new ideas if they want to see that then please vote for me.
