Summer Days, 'Despicable Me' in the Park, and Coffee with Mayor Taylor

What are your plans for the week?

Looking for something to do this week? This is going to be a BIG week in Grayslake. There's Grayslake Summer Days, of course. And the Wildwood Park District is hosting a free Movie in the Park featuring "Despicable Me." So many fun things to do in town this week!

Here's a look at some events coming up this week:

Movie in the Park

This sounds so fun! The Wildwood Park District is hosting a FREE Movie in the Park event at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in Rule Park 33325 N. Sears Blvd. They'll be showing "Despicable Me," and they'll be selling ice cream, popcorn, candy and beverages. Just bring a chair or blanket.

Summer Days are Here Again!

It's time for Grayslake Summer Days! The annual celebration will be held Aug. 16-17 and will feature a carnival, food booths, business booths (including your very own Grayslake Patch!), a pet and bike parade (at noon Aug. 17) and the Summer Days Parade (7 p.m. Aug. 17). Hope to see you there!

Coffee with the Mayor

Mayor Rhett Taylor is inviting residents to join him for coffee from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 17. He'll be available to chat or ask questions at the Grayslake Heritage Center and Museum.

"Crossing for Kids"

Jodi Heller of Wildwood will swim across Gages Lake at 9 a.m. Aug. 17 to celebrate her 40th birthday and to raise money for the Northern Illinois Food Bank. Let's all cheer Jodi on!

Battle of the Bands

The Lali-Palooza Battle of the Bands will be held at the Lake County Fairgrounds at 2 p.m. Aug. 17. The event serves as a fundraiser and helps raise awareness of the prescription pill/heroin addiction issue. The event is held in memory of Alex N. Laliberte, a Buffalo Grove resident and Stevenson High School grad who died of a heroin overdose at age 20.
