Temporary Disruption Of Lake County Jail Video Visits: Sheriff

Here's when the sheriff's office said video visitations will be temporarily unavailable for implementation of the inmate tablet program.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office said video visitation will be temporariy unavailable from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 8, in preparation to begin implementing the new inmate tablet program. According to the sheriff's office, a tablet will soon be provided to every inmate free of charge. However, the tablets are a closed-end system, intranet based, and will only allow content the sheriff approves.

According to the sheriff's office, this content includes job searching, law library applications, educational materials, jail forms/grievences, mental health service information, and a small selection of jail-approved music, games, books and podcasts.

The inmates will have access to the tablets during the daytime hours, before the tablets are collected and charged overnight.
