United Protestant Church To Host Spaghetti Dinner Saturday

The community is invited to Saturday's spaghetti dinner at the United Protestant Church of Grayslake. The event is organized by The Friday Knights adult fellowship group.

The annual Spaghetti Dinner at the United Protestant Church of Grayslake will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29. The dinner will be held in the lower level fellowship hall of the church, located at 54 S. Whitney St. in historic downtown Grayslake.

The menu includes spaghetti with a secret-recipe sauce, coleslaw, garlic bread, drinks and home-made desserts. Meat and meatless marinara spaghetti sauces are available.

Single prices for adult meals are $6, seniors are $5, children ages 5-12 are $4 and kids age 4 and under eat free. Take-out orders and containers of sauce may also be purchased.

For 50-plus years, the dinner has been organized by The Friday Knights adult fellowship group. This year, the youth of UPC will co-host the dinner as well as serve as wait staff. Proceeds will go to various community charities, the UPC and to fund youth mission trips and projects.

The United Protestant Church of Grayslake is made up of two denominations: the United Methodist Church and the United Church of Christ.  It is a member of the Elgin District of the United Methodist Church and the Fox Valley Association of the United Church of Christ. The senior pastor is Rev. Dr. David Russell of the United Church of Christ. The associate pastor is Rev. Orrell Ruth of the United Methodist Church. The website address is www.upcgl.org. Sunday worship services are held at 8:15 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday morning Christian education for all ages begins Sept. 16. Childcare is available all morning.

For more information, call (847) 223-8131. The UPC is fully accessible, the sanctuary is air conditioned and an elevator is available at the west entrance. While the sanctuary is undergoing extensive remodeling, worship services are being held in the Fellowship Hall.
