Man Accused Of Possessing Child Pornography

The 72-year-old man is in custody following an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 72-year-old man faces charges for possessing child pornography in Lake County.

David J. Randsell, of the 1000 block of Deertail Court in Antioch, was taken into custody on January 8 following an investigation by the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

Randsell is accused of possessing numerous images and videos of child pornography, many involving children under the age of 13, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Police launched a probe into Randsell after receiving a tip from an e-mail provider indicating a device in Lake County e-mailed suspected child pornography. Sheriff’s detectives began an investigation and based on their investigation determined the likely source was coming from a home in the 1000 block of Deertrail Court in Antioch.

Detectives searched the home on Jan. 8 and seized electronics belonging to Randsell that contained dozens of child pornography images and videos of children under the age of 13, police said.

He's been charged with five counts of possessing child pornography and additional charges are possible.
