Waukegan Man ID'd As Victim In Weekend Fatal Hit-And-Run
According to police, a car hit a pedestrian in the 2400 block of Washington Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8.
WAUKEGAN, IL — The Lake County Coroner's Office has identified a Waukegan man authorities said died after a hit-and-run Saturday morning in Waukegan. According to Lake and McHenry County Scanner, Lake County Coroner Dr. Howard Cooper said an autopsy conducted on 53-year-old Michael Walton showed that the man died of blunt force injuries caused by a vehicle. Cooper also said toxicology results are pending, the news report added.
The Waukegan Police Department and Waukegan Fire Department were called to the crash site in the 2400 block of Washington Street around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. According to Lake and McHenry Scanner, police found Walton in the road with serious injuries, and police investigators believe that a black sedan was traveling fast eastbound on Washington Street, when the car hit Walton, Waukegan police said. was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead later that morning.
Police are still searching for the driver in Saturday's crash, and ask anyone with information about the deadly hit-and-run to call the Waukegan Police Department’s tip line at 847-360-9001.
